Kirt Box

Who I am

I’m Kirt Box — with a K, not a C, and definitely not a U. Wife, son, a mortgage in Cibolo, Texas, and a garage that’s slowly turning into an archery shop. I grew up in West Texas, raised by a mom who now runs education at the Sibley Nature Center in Midland (she goes by Backyard Biologist on YouTube — ask her anything about Texas plants, she’ll know it). Outdoors runs deep in my family.

Service

I served in the U.S. Army. I did tours in Kuwait and Afghanistan and spent my early twenties in places that taught me how to be still, how to move light, and how to eat whatever was in front of me. A lot of those habits still show up in my hunting.

Day job

I work as a supply chain manager at Boeing on the defense side. Spreadsheets, escalations, part shortages, the whole deal. It’s the job that pays the mortgage while I build everything else. I mention it because a lot of people think guys with sponsorships quit their day jobs on day one. I haven’t. Most of the hunters I know haven’t. You build the brand while you’re working.

The hunting

I started in rifle like most Texas kids. Somewhere along the way it felt too easy, and I moved to a compound bow to make it harder on myself and still keep meat in the freezer. That was the switch. Archery is the sport now. Whitetail, axis, blackbuck, mule deer, elk, javelina, hogs, predators — if it’s fair-chase and legal, I’m interested. I’ve put arrows in axis and blackbuck on free-range exotic hunts out near Junction and Laredo, killed whitetail opening weekends with friends, stuck javelina in Arizona, and I’ve got an Idaho elk tag coming up this fall.

The channel

American Country Outdoors is my YouTube channel. ~8,500 subs. One Short at 5M views. I’m not chasing fame — I’m already doing the hunts, so I might as well film them and put them out. I film with my buddy John, I’m a regular at Total Archery Challenge, and I collaborate across the bow hunting community because that’s how this actually works.

The sponsors

Current deals:

  • Victory Archery — arrows (the full story of how I got signed is here)
  • Moultrie Mobile — cell trail cameras
  • Black Flag Nootropics — focus and energy supplements
  • Bow Crew Apparel — hunting apparel

I’ve also put hundreds of arrows through Thorn, Rage, and Tooth of the Arrow broadheads, carried a Mystery Ranch Metcalf 75 up the mountain, and run a Marsupial bino harness long enough to write an honest review.

Why this site exists

Short videos get you noticed. Long conversations build trust. This site is the long version — field write-ups, real gear reviews after real use, and the occasional podcast transcript. If you shoot, hunt, or work in the outdoor industry and you want to connect, the Connections page is how to reach me. Real email. Real response.

Where I am

Cibolo, Texas — between San Antonio and Austin. Come through, we’ll play pool.
